Obituary

Edna Mae Bateman Creager, 85, of Palm Coast, Florida passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2025.  She was born on May 11, 1939 in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Arthur and May Bateman.  A Lutheran from the beginning, Edna was baptized, confirmed, and was a teenage member of the church choir at St. Peters ELCA in Baltimore.  After graduating from Eastern High School, she attended Baltimore Institute - Business.

Her training in music started at the young age of 9 when she took 4 years of private lessons for the violin, and then studied voice for 6 years at the Baltimore Peabody Conservatory.  Edna had sung in every church she has belonged to in her entire life, and was at one time a professional singer at the First English Episcopal Church in Baltimore.

Her first job was at John Hopkins University, Physics Department, in Baltimore, on an atom splitting project.  She began a career in retail, working in several stores as her family moved from one location to another.  Her longest employment being Pomeroy's Department Store in Wilmington, Delaware, County Seat in Memphis, Tennessee, and Zales Jewelry in St. Louis, Missouri.  She retired in 1999 as a receptionist in the Family Medical Practice of Dr. Mike Adams in St. Peters, Missouri.

Edna met her true love at a church picnic in 1956.  While still in high school, she and Bill Creager became engaged and they were married in December of 1957.  Edna is survived by her loving husband, William S. Creager; son, Michael S. Creager (wife, Susan Creager); son, Scott A. Creager (wife, Lisa Creager); daughter, Kimberly A. Pankey (husband, Steve Pankey); grandchildren, Mark, Ty, Shelby, Kelsey, Mason, Carson, Kaitlyn, Briley, Hunter, and Austin; great grandchildren, Noah, Reese, Vera, and Matthew; and other extended family and friends.

She, like her husband, was an amateur radio operator.  Although not very active in the hobby, she enjoyed sharing the experiences with Bill.  She was very proud of the fact that she had become a member of the DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution) and that her Patriot was a French officer who had fought at the Battle of Yorktown.  With equal pride, she was a member of the National Society United States Daughters of 1812, having confirmed a great grandfather who was at the Battle of Fort McHenry when our National Anthem was written.

She was an amazing woman who loved very deeply her family, her friends, and her God.

The family will honor, celebrate, and give thanks to God for the gift of their beloved Edna on Tuesday, June 3, 2025 at 1pm at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery located at 5525 US-1, Mims, Florida 32754.
