Edna "Julie" Acker, 86 of Ormond Beach, Fl, a native of Coleman, Fl passed peacefully in her home on Friday, July 22, 2016. She was a homemaker and financial advisor. She earned her Bachelor's degree in Education from Florida Southern College. She was a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority, Kappa Delta Pi Honorary Education Society, Daughters of the American Revolution, American Association of University Women, and the First United Methodist Church of Ormond Beach.
Julie was a school teacher at Wildwood High School in Wildwood, Florida. She worked on Wall Street with Cutter Bennett Securities Corporation and she became the Vice President of Acker, Wolman Securities Corporation. Her greatest accomplishment was raising a daughter with Cystic Fibrosis, Debbie, who graduated from Duke University with a Doctorate in Biomedical Engineering and worked for the Lord Corporation in the Research Triangle in Raleigh, North Carolina. She was a wonderful wife, mother, an grandmother.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Russell "Russ" Acker of Ormond Beach, her son, Dr. James H. Acker of Ormond Beach, and by two grandchildren, Lela Julia Acker, Alvonellos or Warner Robins, Georgia, and Emily Victoria Acker of Charlotte, North Carolina.
Julie was preceded in death by her daughter Dr. Debra Nell Acker "Debbie" in 1992.
Visitation will be held on Monday, July 25th from 12:00 - 1:00 pm with funeral services at 1:00 pm at Lohman Funeral Home; 733 W. Granada Blvd Ormond Beach. Entombment will follow at Grace Lutheran Church Resurrection Garden, Ormond Beach. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to First United Methodist Church of Ormond Beach or the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York.
