Edith M. Wells, 91, of Palm Coast, FL passed away July 20, 2014. Funeral Service will be held Thursday, July 24, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 5400 Belle Terre Pkwy, Palm Coast, FL 32137. Interment will follow at Volusia Memorial Park in Ormond Beach.

Edith was born in Newark, NJ to William and Margaret (Hall) Morris and lived most of her life in East Orange, New Jersey. In New Jersey, Edith met and married the love of her life, Dr. Edwin Wells. Their son Raymond made their family complete.

In Newark, New Jersey, Edith was an elementary school teacher and a high school home economics teacher. She retired from teaching while at Vailsburg High School in Newark. In 1988, Edith and Edwin moved to Palm Coast to be near Edith's sister Theda M. Wilson and her brother-in-law, The Rev. Donald O. Wilson, who was a priest at St Thomas Episcopal Church. Edith was a faithful member of the Altar Guild. Edith was also a former member of St. Andrews Holy Communion Church in South Orange, NJ.

Her hobbies and interests included sewing, crocheting, and knitting. Edith designed and made the kneeling pads for Trinity Church in Oak Bluffs, Massachusetts. She was a wonderful cook and baker. Her sponge cake recipe is legendary! Edith was an accomplished athlete and loved bowling, golf, tennis, and swimming. Edith was a member of the Northeasterners; the SAC bowling league in NJ; and the Eagles Golf Group in Palm Coast. Her haven was Martha's Vineyard, MA, where she and her family annually vacationed for 50 years.

Edith leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband of 64 years, Dr. Edwin Wells; her son Raymond G. Wells; her sister Jessie M. Wilkerson; her nieces Paulette Braxton, Juana Brown, and Milagros Williams; her nephew Ronald Morris; her goddaughter and niece, Sylvia W. Collins; her cousins Norma Hall, Rose Jarrett, and Orville Jarrett; and numerous loving great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. Edith was predeceased by her brother, Mortimer Morris, sister Theda M. Wilson, goddaughter Dorothy James and brother-in-law Kenneth C. Wilkerson.
