Edith M. Donaldson Pope age 88 passed away on Thursday August 12 2004 at the Hospice Care Center in Port Orange.
Mrs Pope was born in Salem Ohio on May 16 1916 to George and Bertha Donaldson. After high school Edith graduated from nursing school at the Akron City Hospital. She moved to Daytona Beach from Akron in 1951; and with her husband owned and operated The Residue a hardware and repair shop on Fairview Ave. for 30 years. Edith also continued her nursing during this time as a charge nurse for Clyatts and also at the Ormond Beach Osteopathic Hospital until her retirement in 1981.
Mrs. Pope was a member of Riverside Presbyterian Church and later attended the First United Methodist Church of Daytona. She was a very active church member and enjoyed traveling along with other members on trips. Edith was also very active with her condo association and was an avid swimmer who loved the beach as well as a great gardener with a real green thumb.
She was preceded in death by her husband Joe C. Pope and her sister Vesta Wellendorf. Left to cherish her memories are her daughter and son-in-law Linda and William Treichler and granddaughter Sarah Elizabeth Treichler all of St. Petersburg as well as several nieces and nephews.
