Ed Briones age 65 died peacefully at home on Thursday Nov. 3 2011 with his wife and family by his side.

He was born on February 10 1946 in Joliet Illinois. He attended Lincoln grammar school graduated from Joliet Township High School in 1964 and attended Joliet Junior College before joining the Navy. Ed served in the U.S. Navy from 1967 to 1971 where he was a Sonar Specialist on the USS John Marshall. The nuclear submarine was based at the U.S. Naval Submarine Base in New London Groton Connecticut.

He worked in the Telecommunications industry for AT&T and Bellcore and finally retired from Pacific Bell as a Product Manager in 1995 after twenty three years.

Ed always lived life to the fullest and fulfilled all of his dreams by first marrying his high school sweetheart Helen Boyd in 1977. He was an accomplished carpenter and always loved to tell a good joke. They lived in California for 23 years and then traveled in their RV visiting 44 of the United States before settling in Port Orange Florida in 2003. He began a bible study group and loved living on a golf course. He was much loved and will be dearly missed by his family and friends. His spirit will live on in all those who were touched by him.

He is survived by his wife Helen Briones of 34 years; his son Robert Briones and his granddaughter Kim Briones of Port Orange; his Mother Aggie Briones of Joliet Illinois; his sister and her husband Rosemarie and Marty Geschke of Joliet Illinois; his brother Jeff Briones of Thousand Oaks California; his sister and her husband Bonnie and Jerry Mapes of Redding California and countless aunts and uncles nieces and nephews.

Special thanks for the love and care provided by family friends and Volusia County Hospice in Port Orange. A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday November 12 2011 at 11:00 AM at Covenant United Methodist Church 3701 Clyde Morris Blvd. in Port Orange. Arrangements are in the care of Cardwell Funeral Home in Port Orange. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Ed's memory can be made to Hospice of Volusia/Flagler 3800 Woodbriar Trail in Port Orange FL 32129. Internment will be in the Jacksonville Veterans Cemetery Jacksonville FL.
