Earl C. Mechtensimer 80 of Port Orange passed away on Tuesday July 24 2007. Earl was born on July 31 1926 to the late Harry and Marion Mechtensimer in Cleveland Ohio. He enlisted in the U. S. Army and served during WWII until being honorably discharged. Earl received his undergraduate degree from Case Western Reserve University and his Masters degree from University of Iowa. He furthered his education and received his PhD from Walden University. His career as a hospital administrator included Michael Reese Hospital in Chicago Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami and Baltimore City Hospital in Baltimore. Earl enjoyed spending time with his family gardening and was very dedicated to his career. Earl leaves to cherish his memory his children Mary Susan Gonzalez Gary Mechtensimer Lisa Gingerich Todd Mechtensimer Beth Childs Dawn Kacer and Hope Lunsford; sisters Marie Lewis and Maxine Sohn; brother Vernon Mechtensimer; 19 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Earl was preceded in death by his son Earl Mechtensimer Jr and by his sister Dorothy Steenson. Memorial donations may be made in honor of Earl to The Hospice of Volusia/Flagler 3800 Woodbriar Trail Port Orange FL 32129 designated for Hospice House of New Smyrna Beach. Memorial service will be held at Florida National Cemetery Bushnell Florida.
