Earl James Jackson 81 Port Orange went home to be with the Lord on Saturday June 18th. His loving wife of 48 years Louise was by his side. Mr. Jackson was born on Sept. 15 1923 in Cullman Alabama. He served his country in the U. S. Navy before becoming a police officer in Birmingham Alabama. After moving to the Daytona area in 1956 with his wife Louise he worked helping to build public schools in Ormond Beach. He also worked for Rinker Materials as a dispatcher/truck driver. After 10 years he went to work as a correction?s officer at the Tomoka facility from which he retired serving as sergeant. Earl Jackson is a member of the First Baptist Church of South Daytona. He is survived by his wife Louise son Charles ?Ed? Jr. daughter-in-law Patricia Shirley two grandsons Charles E. Shirley III and Robert Earl Shirley all of Port Orange. He is also survived by two sons Dana and Joe Jackson and one brother Herby all of Alabama. The family will receive friends from 5 to 6 pm on Thursday June 23 with the service following at 6 pm at the Lohman Funeral Home Daytona Chapel. Earl loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter fisherman and gardener. He truly was a kind and loving person and will be missed beyond measure.
