Dwight F. Hanny 77 of Ormond Beach passed away on July 9 2010. A Memorial Service to celebrate Mr. Hanny's life will be held on Wednesday July 14 2010 at 2:00pm at First United Methodist Church 336 South Halifax Drive Ormond Beach. Dwight was born in Buffalo New York on October 16 1932 to George F. Hanny Jr. and Helen D. (Galbraith) Hanny. He enjoyed golfing fishing boating running the family business and spending time with his family and friends. Dwight married the love of his life Shirley M. Sweet in October of 1952. They later had a son and two daughters. Dwight enlisted in the United States Navy in 1953. Dwight worked in the steel industry and aspired to run his own company. He later opened American Douglas Metals Inc. which is now a third generation family run steel company. Dwight was a fun loving free spirited person. He was always there helping those in need and fighting for the underdog. He loved his family most of all as they did him. His presence will be dearly missed but always remembered. Dwight is survived by his beloved wife Shirley M. Hanny of Ormond Beach FL; son Douglas P. Hanny of Atlanta GA; daughter Sharren (Ed) Raimonde of Atlanta GA seven grandchildren four great grandchildren siblings Lee (Paul) Lindner George III (Lorrie) Hanny and Mary (Sui Lung) Tang many extended family members and friends. Dwight is preceded in death by his daughter Wendy (Bob) Rembold parents George and Helen (Galbraith) Hanny twin sister and brother Dale and Delores Hanny.
