Dwight H. "Jack" Burnett 81 a long-time resident of the Volusia County area died on June 3 2010. A memorial service will be held on Monday June 7th 2010 at 4:00pm at Lohman Funeral Home 1423 Bellevue Avenue Daytona Beach. Dwight was born June 15 1928 in Blytheville Arkansas. As a young man he proudly served our country in the US Army in Korea. He spent a good part of his life working as a restaurant manager for several organizations and was responsible for opening the first McDonald's in St. Louis MO. In 1979 he relocated to Florida and opened Burnett Motors on Nova Road in Daytona along with his brother. In 1997 they sold the business and took over Don's Motors which was finally sold in 2000 when he retired. Dwight spent countless hours watching old western movies however his greatest passion was shopping for deals! If there was a coupon or sale somewhere Dwight was there. He will be remembered most for his quick whit and the love he had for his family. Left to cherish his memory are his sons; Dwight H. Burnett Jr. of Alabama Michael Burnett of Edgewater FL; daughters Vanessa Reed and her husband Steve of Symsonia Kentucky Tiffany Burnett of Holly Hill FL; grandchildren Joshua Ammie Michael Christina and Mellisa; great-grandchildren Janaye and Jathen.
