Lyle L. Durbin age 83 of Daytona Beach passed away Friday April 18 2008 at Hospice of Volusia/Flagler Port Orange. Mr. Durbin was a Farmer in IL. a US Navy Veteran of WWII and owner of L & R Paving CO. in Ft. Lauderdale FL. He came to the Daytona Beach area in 1994 after his retirement from his own company; the L.& R. Paving Co. in Fort Lauderdale FL. Lyle loved gardening yard sales and playing horseshoes. He was a proud member of the Port Orange Horseshoe Club VFW post 3282 and Covenant United Methodist Church where he dedicated much of his talent as a greeter member of "Team Jesus" and a "Do it All". Most of all Lyle was a dedicated devoted husband father and grandfather. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his children: Diana Thomas Sanford FL Roger (Judy) Watts Pinellas Park FL and Sandra (Jerry) Battiste S. Daytona FL; brother Charles "Sie" (Leona) Durbin Pana IL; 9 grandchildren 14 great grandchildren 3 great-great grandchildren and a loving special friend; Mary Durst S. Daytona FL. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 41 years Ruth Vera Durbin an infant daughter and a son-in-law Jack Thomas. A service in his honor will be held Wednesday April 30 2008; with a 9:00 AM visitation and 10:00 AM service time at Covenant United Methodist Church 3701 Clyde Morris Port Orange with Pastor Paul Pollok officiating. Internment and Military Honors will follow at Daytona Memorial Park.
