It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing, from this life to the next, of Douglas Bartley McGilton, of Daytona Beach, FL. He passed away peacefully at Halifax Hospice Center, Port Orange, FL, on February 25, 2023, with his daughter, son, grandchildren, great-grands and friends by his side.

He is predeceased by his father, Donald Newkirk McGilton (OH), his mother, Marilyn Louise McGilton nee McCall (AL), his sister, Helen Marie Perian-McGilton (MD) and his aunt, Joyce Ann McCall (AL).

He is survived by his Beloved Children; Ann-Margaret Louise Wilson nee McGilton (William H. Jr) of Elberton, GA and Gregory Douglas McGilton (Jennifer) of Birmingham, AL.

Grandchildren; Jessica Cohen (Marlan Jr), Danielle Michael (Aarin Lee), Joshua Lara (Gyovana), Samuel Michael, Caitlyn-Madison Wilson, all of which are from Georgia and Kristen Kleckley (Cody) of South Carolina.

Great-Grands; Eden Lee, Grace & Faith Cohen and Ellie Kleckley.

Brother of Randell Craig McGilton, Sr. (Grace) of Hilton Head Island, SC and Jeoffrey Scott McGilton (Nancy) of Springfield, VA.

Uncle to Randell McGilton, Jr. (Andrea), Michael McGilton (Michelle), both of South Carolina and Emily McGilton of Virginia & Great-Uncle to Jack McGilton, Logan McGilton and Brianna McGilton.

His uncle; James Rodney McCall (Gwynne), and Cousins; Trudy Frost & Lydia McCall, all of California.

Doug was born in Washington, D.C. on August 5, 1949. He lived in the District of Columbia, Virginia, Maryland, Georgia, Louisiana, Tennessee and Arizona, before moving to Florida, in 1994. He married his Jr. High-School Sweetheart, Grace Louise Easter (1969-1976) and later married his co-worker, Linda Sue Adams (2002-2018), with whom he enjoyed the company of her children Doug & Melissa Adams. Even though both marriages ended in divorce, he stayed in close contact with them both.

Doug left his family with the greatest legacy of all. One of faith; a true soldier, finishing his race strong. By teaching us all how to courageously battle cancer for these past five years, relying daily on Our Lord and Savior; Jesus Christ. Working until February 23, 2023, in the Maintenance Dept at Emery-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU), Daytona Beach, FL, alongside an amazing group of co-workers.

Doug loved life to the full. He touched each of us in a special way. Always giving the shirt off his back to his friends. He loved to sit and listen to his favorite country, gospel and rock 'n roll music, to dance, laugh and make others laugh. In his later years, Doug enjoyed wind-therapy on his motorcycle, good food, Dallas Cowboys, Nascar and friends. His favorite quote was "I'm fine, I'm good." He will be deeply missed by all… until we meet again.

His daughter will hold a private memorial & celebration of life in Hilton Head Island, SC, April 4, 2023 @ 2 pm. His son will hold a separate celebration of life for friends, in Daytona Beach, FL, to be announced.
