Douglas Creech, 94, of Port Orange, Florida, passed away on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at his home.
Doug was born in Selma, North Carolina on December 8, 1920, the fourth child of twelve born to the late John and Cora Creech.

He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Anne; by his daughter, Patricia Creech; grandson, Paul Creech; his granddaughter, Lianne Beach and her husband Harrison, as well as his great-grandchildren, Michael, Sydney, Zane, and Evie. He is also survived by by many nieces and nephews. Doug was preceded in death by eleven brothers and sisters.

At the age of 19, Doug joined the Marine Corps and served in the Pacific Theater during WW II. He was wounded in battle and after recovering in a Naval Hospital he was granted a medical discharge. Doug then returned to New York to marry Anne, the girl he met and left behind when he was stationed at the Brooklyn Navy Yard before he shipped out. They had an amazing life together, and held hands wherever they went. They would have been married 70 years in June.

His passion was gardening. He had a green thumb and whatever he planted and tended grew to be admired by everyone. His gardens were the envy of his neighbors wherever he lived. He had a smile and kind word for everyone and was always ready to lend a helping hand to whoever asked. He enjoyed playing board games and building Legos with his youngest great-grandchildren Zane and Evie. He was loved by many and will be missed by everyone who knew him.

The family invites you to join them at a graveside service at Daytona Memorial Park, 1425 Bellevue Avenue, Daytona Beach, Florida. Arrangements are entrusted to Lohman Funeral Home Daytona.
