Dorothy Johanna Smith Kent, age 90, of Orange City, Florida, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 29, 2025. She was born in Waterford Township, Michigan, to the late Norris and Jessie Smith. Dorothy was a faithful member of VCBC since the late 1990s and a devoted pastor's wife for 35 years.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 56 years, Charles Kent, who faithfully served as a pastor during the latter 35 years of their marriage; and by their daughter, Lydia Kent Buck, who passed away in 2017.

Dorothy is survived by her three children: Helen (Tyler) Thomas, Jeffrey Kent, and Steve (Nadine) Kent; nine grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense joy and pride.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 4, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, with a service to follow at 1:00 PM at Lohman Funeral Home – Deland Chapel, 935 E. New York Ave., Deland, Florida.

Burial will be held at Deland Memorial Gardens immediately following the service.
