Obituary

Dorothy A. (Zeltman) Rudat, 92, passed peacefully after a long illness on March 20, 2014 in her residence at Indigo Palms Assisted Living Facility in Daytona Beach, FL. She was born in Rutherford and raised in Lyndhurst, NJ. Dorothy is predeceased by her husband of 68 years, Emil A. Rudat who passed away in November, 2013. Dorothy is survived by a son, Paul Rudat of Palm Coast, FL; a daughter, Kristin (Rudat) and her husband Rob Schofield of Lancaster, MA. She is also survived by a sister, Margaret (Zeltman) Dowling of Williamsburg, VA. Upon graduation from high school Dottie, as she was called, was employed as an engineering secretary at RCA Corporation where she met her husband, Emil. Together they established a family in River Edge, NJ before later transferring to North Reading, MA and then Circleville, OH. Dorothy made many dear friends in each neighborhood in which they lived and was involved in the community such as volunteering at a local hospital gift shop. Dorothy and her sister shared in the care of her aging father for many years. Dorothy loved to sew and knit in her spare time. After her husband retired from RCA, after 38 years of service, they moved to Ormond Beach, FL. During retirement Dorothy would open her home up to any and all friends and relatives seeking to spend some time in the Sunshine State.

Funeral arrangements are by Lohman Funeral Home Ormond. Burial service will be at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus, NJ at the convenience of the family.
