Obituary

Dorothy Mucciolo

June 8, 1929 – May 26, 2025

Dorothy Mucciolo, 95, of Ormond Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully at home on May 26, surrounded by the family she cherished above all else.

Born in Greenwich Village, New York, on June 8, 1929, Dorothy was a woman of timeless grace, quiet strength, and boundless love. She began her career at the New York Daily News, where she brought wit, intelligence, and a sharp eye to every assignment. But her truest vocation was found in the life she lovingly built with her husband and family.

She married the love of her life, Marc Antonio Mucciolo, on June 4, 1950, in Long Island, New York. Together, they raised seven children—John, Francis, Stephen, Charles, Edward, Lenore, and Paul—first in East Islip, New York, and later in Ormond Beach, where they made their home in 1975.

Dorothy spent over twenty years serving in the Guidance Department at Seabreeze High School, where her calm presence, deep empathy, and gentle humor endeared her to students and colleagues alike.

A woman of deep Catholic faith, Dorothy found strength and serenity in her weekly Saturday Mass at Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Her spiritual devotion was quietly woven into every part of her life—always showing up in the form of kindness, patience, humility, and love.

Her greatest joy was her family. She was the proud grandmother of thirteen—Marc, Christina, Matthew, Christopher, Catherine, Samantha, Jamie, Michael, Sarah, Sophia, Sean, Evan, and Everly—and great-grandmother to seven: Jack, Olivia, Grace, Isabella, Lucas, Dylan, Tanner, and one more soon to arrive. Dorothy also shared loving bonds with her daughters-in-law—Pam, Lori, Trish, and Christie—who brought joy and strength into the family and stood by her with grace.

Dorothy had a rare gift for making others feel truly seen. She was a listener, a steady hand, a warm heart. Whether it was a lunch with friends, a quiet evening at home, or a moment in church, she found meaning in the simple joys of life and left every space a little more peaceful than she found it.

A private family Mass will be held at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Ormond Beach.

Dorothy's legacy is one of devotion, dignity, and enduring love. Though she has left our sight, her presence lingers—in the strength of her children, the laughter of her grandchildren, and the unshakable foundation of faith and family she built so beautifully.

Arrangements are under the careful direction of Lohman Funeral Home Ormond.
