Dorothy Ruth Dunahoo (Carver) Kirton 90. passed away September 7 2012. A Visitation will be from 5:00pm- 8:00pm September 25 2012 at Baggett & Summers Funeral Home 736 S Beach Street Daytona Beach FL. A Funeral Service will be the following morning on September 26 2012 at 10:00 am at The Covenant United Methodist Church 3701 South Clyde Morris Boulevard Port Orange FL. Dorothy was born June 8 1922 in Monroe GA the only child of Ruth Jewel and Jeff Thomas Dunahoo. In June 7 1943 she married William Taylor Carver Jr a Navy pilot. She came to Daytona Beach Florida in 1948 with her husband and two young children. She taught third grade at Holly Hill School for many years. She was widowed in 1966. Throughout life she was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Daytona Beach for 51 years until its closing and then joined and served faithfully at Covenant United Methodist in Port Orange for 11 years until her passing. Dorothy also was a member of the Halifax Auxilary for over 40 years. Throughout life she was an active church and community volunteer. In 1968 she married widower Myron Kirton. Between their two former marriages they brought together their combined eight children and as Myron said. "All our family was there for the big wedding. It was a beautiful ceremony and again we were delighted to have the joining of our hearts and souls and families in the church." They shared 44 years together living on Tomoka' Farms Road in Port Orange FL. They succeeded in turning Myron's six children and Dorothy's two into one loving family. Dorothy is predeceased by William Taylor Carver Jr. Myron Kirton two sons: James Kirton and Kelly Kirton. She is survived by six children: Tommy Kirton and wife Pat; Dottie Morris and husband Alan; Kay Wingard and husband Junior; Bill Carver and wife Joyce; Krys Muller and husband Steve; Kenny Kirton his former wife Pat; Eva Kirton widow of Jimmy Kirton and eleven grandchildren. The grandchildren are: Jessica Kirton; Kent Kirton and wife Rachelle; Tyler Kirton; Shannon Peters and husband Mike; Brandy Hogue and husband Danny; Jeff Wingard and wife Kim; Kristen Langer and husband Chemie; Courtney Begley and husband Nick; Steven Muller; Kristian Muller; and Stratton Kirton; and seventeen great-grandchildren: Emma Miah and Faith Kirton: Austin Garrett and Kera Kirton; Kody Kirton; Brooke and Bailey Peters; Kailey Blaine and Payton Hogue; Jacob and Olivia Wingard; Remy and Harrison Langer; and Landon Begley.In lieu of flowers and in her honor donations may be made to Covenant United Methodist Church Port Orange or the United Methodist Children's Home 51 Main Street Deltona FL 32725 or The Alzheimer's Association.
