Dorothy Jean Hillman 93 of Daytona Beach peacefully passed away on Tuesday August 14 2012. She was born in Minneapolis Minnesota October 1 1918. She graduated from Evanston High in Evanston Illinois. Dorothy moved to Florida in 1938 where she met her future husband Louis Hillman (deceased) to whom she was happily married for 57 years. After arriving in Daytona Beach Dorothy worked at Southern Bell for 3 years during World War II. Later she worked for the Selective Service during the 60's and 70's. Dorothy was an active member of the First Christian Church of Daytona Beach for over 60 years where she taught Sunday School was a deacon elder and a member of the church choir. Dorothy was actively involved as a volunteer with the Atlantic Hospital Auxiliary (Humana) for over 20 years. Her many interests included reading arts fishing grandchildren and her passion for writing which she pursued in her later years. Dorothy was an active member of the community and touched many lives until the day of her death. She will be deeply missed by her many friends and family. Survivors include her children: son Bob Hillman and wife Margie; son Carl Hillman and wife Reggie; daughter Pat Solari and husband Steve. Her wisdom will be deeply missed by her grandchildren: Blake (Elizabeth) Blair Megan (Jason) Bailey Ian (Ellen) Jessica (Timothy); and great-grandchildren: Emmy Barrett Katherine and another great-granddaughter expected soon. A memorial service will be held at a later date when family and friends will gather to celebrate Dorothy's life.
