Dorothy T. Hayes 73 passed away in her home in Deland early on the morning of April 2 2011. A funeral in her honor will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday April 5 2011 at the Deland Chapel of the Lohman Funeral Home followed by interment at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell. The family will receive guests on Monday April 4 5:00 - 7:00 PM. Dorothy was born in Washington D.C. on September 14 1937 and was the daughter of John Alexander and Theresa (Bruno)Thuma. Mrs. Hayes was a 1959 Graduate of the University of Maryland at College Park. On June 17 1960 at St. Matthew's Church in Hyattsville MD she married William K. Hayes who survives at home. In addition to her husband she is survived by; her son William K. Hayes Jr. a granddaughter Lily Mia Dorothy Hayes both of Jacksonville a sister Joan Chaconas and a nephew Nicholas Chaconas both of Brandywine MD. For her husband the intense grief at the loss of his wife of 50 years is made bearable only by his Christian religion and the certain knowledge that he will see her again soon.
