Dorothy F. Bohren, 84, passed away peacefully May 12,
2016 in Ormond Beach, FL. Miss Bohren was born on
October 27, t931 to Peter and Clara Bohren in Warren, PA.
She was a graduate of the Stetson School of Music with a
Bachelors of Music, Louisiana State University with a
Masters of Music, and did post graduate work in music and
guidance at Florida State University and Stetson University.
She retired from the Volusia County School System after
over 35 years of service. She studied under Frederick
Wilkins of the Julliard Manhattan School of Music and at the
Chautauqua Institute of New York.
Miss Bohren, a resident of Volusia County for over 60 years,
was well known as a private flute, piccolo and piano teacher
She was also the youth choir director at Ormond Beach
Union Church and Seabreeze United Church, past director of
Daytona Beach Symphony Society, and the summer general
manager of the Daytona Beach Municipal Band (Bandshell)
from 1972-1981.
She is survived by her brothers John Bohren and Dale
Abbott of Pigeon Forge, TN, brother Virgil Bohren, Warren,
PA, niece(s) Rhonda Winslow (husband Chris) of Warren, PA,
and Kathy Eckenroth (husband Larry) of Reading, PA.
