Doris E. Bender, 86, passed away at her home in Daytona Beach Shores, Florida on November 19, 2013. Doris was born June 21, 1927 in Slatington, PA to the late Ralph and Naomi Schleicher. She lived in the Allentown, PA area for over 60 years before relocating to Florida in the late 1980s. She loved board and card games, bingo, and crossword puzzles. She was an avid reader and enjoyed travelling with her late husband Bob. Above all, she was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother who loved her family dearly. Doris was the beloved wife of the late Robert W. Bender for 58 years.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, James Bender, McHenry, IL and Patricia (John) Fischer, Burke, VA; brothers, Kenneth Schleicher and Ralph Schleicher; sisters, Phyllis Kropf and Betty Bruder; and grandchildren, Brad, Jennifer, Sarah, Erica, and Kurt. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Doris's name to the American Cancer Society (online or P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718).

A graveside service led by Rev. Mark Spivey will take place on Monday, December 9, 2013 at 10:00 am at Daytona Memorial Park, 1425 Bellevue Ave, Daytona Beach, Florida 32114 (386) 267-1100.
