Donna Salandra Margalotti 74 of Ormond Beach FL. passed away on Saturday July 20 2013 after a brief illness. Donna was born on August 7 1938 in Newark NJ to the late Michael and Rose (Maglione) Salandra. She was predeceased by a brother Frank Salandra. Donna graduated from Barringer High School in Newark NJ and then went on to earn a BA in Sociology from Cedar Crest College in Allentown PA. Following graduation Donna worked as a Parole Officer for the State of NJ. Until her retirement in 2004 she worked as a legal secretary for more than twenty years. Donna lived in Oceanport and Tinton Falls NJ for almost 40 years where she was an active community volunteer. While living in Ormond Beach she was a parishioner of Prince of Peace Church devoting her time at the Church sponsored thrift shop LIKE NEW SHOP which provides clothing and home furnishings to low income families. She often quipped that her bags were always packed as she enjoyed traveling abroad and throughout the US with her husband and friends. Donna was a lifelong learner whose favorite past time was spent with a good book. Her warm and generous nature endeared her to many. Her greatest joy in life however was spending time with each of her eight grandchildren whom she loved dearly and was extremely proud of.
Donna is survived by her loving husband of 53 years Francis Andrew Margalotti; two children Andrea Baver son-in-law Andrew Baver of Mont Vernon NH David Margalotti daughter -in-law Patricia Margalotti of Sparta NJ; eight grandchildren Jesse Baver NYC Sarah Baver Stuttgart AR Lexi Matiash Miami FL Chelsea Matiash Queens NY Max Matiash Sam Johnna and Harry Margalotti Sparta NJ a step sister Jennie Arscott of Ormond Beach FL her Aunt Marie DeSantis of West Long Branch NJ and numerous friends and relatives. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Prince of Peace Church 600 S. Nova Rd Ormond Beach on Saturday July 27 2013 at 9 AM followed by interment at Daytona Memorial Park. A reception celebrating Donna's life will be held at the Aberdeen Clubhouse in Ormond Beach. In Lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made in Donna's memory to the Prince of Peace Social Services Ministry Alive in Christ.
