A Celebration of Life for Donald J. Zierers 74 Cherrywood Drive Ormond Beach who passed away on Friday December 1 2006 at Ormond Memorial Hospital will be held on Wednesday December 6 2006 at 1 PM at The Lohman Funeral Home Ormond Beach Chapel. The family will be receiving friends at the Funeral Home Tuesday evening from 5 PM until 8 PM. Burial with full Military Honors will follow in The Garden of Glory at Daytona Memorial Park. Surviving him are his Wife Trudy a Son Donald Zierers Dela Plane VA 4 Daughters Donna and husband Ronnie Camp McDonaugh GA Darlene and husband Steve Davis Locust Grove GA Nancy Beatty Burke VA Tracy Cervi Ormond Beach 8 Grandchildren and 4 Great Grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son Edward Beatty. Donald was born November 17 1931 in Terra Alta West VA the son of Austin and Blanche Trembly Zierers. He graduated from High School in Terra Alta West VA. At the age of 18 Donald began serving his country for twenty years in the US Army. He married Trudy Hardinge June 25 1966 in New York. He was stationed in West Point NY. He served in Korea Japan and two tours of duties in Vietnam. While serving in Korea he was captured and kept as a prisoner of war. After retiring from the Military in 1971 Donald was employed in the Civil Service as System Analyst for The Department of Defense at the Pentagon in Washington DC for 17 years. The couple moved to Florida in 1986.
