Obituary

Donald (Don) Wahl was born Aug. 17,1938 in Streator IL. to Lester and Dorothy (Paul) Wahl. Surrounded by family, holding his hand, he passed into the arms of his Savior Jesus Christ on April 4th. 2022. In 1958 he married his high school sweetheart, Phyllis Sproule, in Streator IL. He is survived by his wife of 63 years and 4 sons and 2 daughters: Jeffrey (Nancy) Greenfield WA., Don (Loretta) Arvada, CO., Dale (Jenny) Aurora, CO. David (Alene) Brighton, CO., Julee (Rick) Chapman, Palm Coast FL., Dana (Ray) Jann, Palm Coast, FL. Grandchildren: Erica, Jeffrey (Mallorie), Allison, Michael (Maddie), Briana, Kaiya, Natalie. Step-grandchildren Nick (Kristen), Cody (Jennifer), Lisa (Brian), Tommy, and Ashley. Great grandchildren: Jaden, Alexis, Evie, Arron, Nora, Ethan, Ashlynn, Kira, Rhylee and Ezra.  Step Great Grandchildren: Caiden, Marinia, Gaige, Zane, Jeremiah,and Alexa. Brothers in law:  Ray (Nancy) Sproule, Robert (Dawn) Sproule, Sisters in law Marilyn Wahl, Mary Sproule. Nephews:  Tim S., Todd, Jim, Dave, Greg and Tim W.  Nieces:  Heather, and Debbie.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Lester and Robert, sisters Dorothy Kear and Betty Fuller. Step Granddaughter Maria, Nephew Mike, Nieces Patti, and Terri.

Recently Don and Phyllis left Arvada CO to be near their daughters in Palm Coast, FL. Don was diagnosed with Parkinson's 13 years ago, never complaining, handling his illness with dignity and grace. Don's first priority in his life was his family, each one loved unconditionally. He was a man marked by his wisdom, integrity, honesty, and selflessness. Don graduated from Streator High School class of 1957. He worked at Thatcher Glass Company, Streator, Il. for 22 yrs. before moving his family to Arvada, CO. in 1979, working at Coors Glass Company in Golden CO. In 1984 he started his own business, Variety Auto Expressions, always saying being his own boss was the best, and retiring in 2006. Don was an active man enjoying holiday dinners with family, long hikes with his wife, the love of his life. He also enjoyed boating, fishing, vacations, the mountains of Colorado and his 1968 High Country Special Red Mustang. Don's last breath was his First step into Glory.
