Donald Ellsworth Van Arsdale Sr., 80, of Palm Coast, passed away September 5th, 2018 in the Halifax Hospice Care Center in Ormond Beach, FL. Sr, surrounded by his his wife and family.
Don was born in Manhattan, NY to Ellsworth and Florence (Kilss) Van Arsdale on February 26th, 1938. He attended Tottenville High School in Staten Island, NY. Donald served his country for two years in the United States Air Force an additional four years in the United States Navy. Upon honorable discharge, Don began his 21 years of service to the New York City Police Department. He retired in 1983.
Don was predeceased by his son, Donald Ellsworth Van Arsdale Jr., his parents and his niece Donna Culbert Wayman.
Don is survived by his wife of 57 years, Barbara (England) Van Arsdale and daughter, Sandra Lynn Sanderson (Carl Sanderson), his sister Karen Culbert (Robert Culbert), his eight grandchildren, Garrik Lamb, Barbara (Devyn Bremmer) Lamb, Sara (Josh Ingalls) Van Arsdale, Donald Eric Van Arsdale, Megan Van Arsdale, Kyle Sanderson, Margaret Sanderson and Morgan Sanderson. four great grandchildren, Travis Van Arsdale- Lamb, Benjamin Ingalls, Westley and Donevan Bremmer, Don was also blessed with many nieces , nephews and three dogs.
He lives forever in the hearts of his family as a Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle, Veteren, dog whisperer/food sharer, First Responder, and friend. Don laughed and danced his way through a glorious 80 years of life creating a legacy of love, commitment, patriotism, kindness, and faith in the Lord.
Don's family would like to extend the sincerest gratitude to the Halifax Hospice Care Center and the hospice team for the prompt, careful, and compassionate care they provided.

A private viewing will be held
Monday, September 17th, 2018
for immediate family and a graveside service will be held at Cape Canaveral National cemetery on
September 18th, 2018 at 10:30am
with full military honors. Arrangements have been made by Lohman Funeral Homes of Palm Coast.
