Donald O. Threlkeld, age 93 of Port Orange, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 25, 2012. A graveside service will be held at Daytona Memorial Park Cemetery starting at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 30, 2012.

Don was born in Burna Kentucky on April 13 1919 to the late Ross and Mary Threlkeld. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II in both Aruba and Germany. Don moved to the Daytona area in 1946 following his time in the Army to live with his aunt Violet and uncle Ed Best. He later met his beloved wife of 60 years, Alice Cook Threlkeld. Don worked for Florida Power and Light Company as a division manager retiring in 1984 after more than 30 years of loyal employment. Prior to FPL, he was co-owner of a local grocery store, Johnny and Don's, on Volusia Avenue.

He enjoyed working in the yard reading and spending time with family and friends. Don was a life member of the VFW Post 15010 and 60-year member of Masonic Lodge Post 270. He was a loyal Miami Dolphins and Chicago Cubs fan.

He is survived by his loving wife, Alice of Port Orange; and daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Bernie Ragland of Atlanta Georgia. He also leaves behind sisters-in-law, Ethel Bailey and Mary Cook; many beloved nieces nephews great nieces and great nephews. Don is preceded in death by his parents, Ross and Mary; brother Aurel; and aunt and uncle, Violet and Ed Best.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made in Don's honor to Vitas Innovative Hospice Care of Volusia/Flagler, 114 Canal Street, New Smyrna Beach, FL 32168.
