A Celebration of Life for Donald L. Sharp 83 of Port Orange Florida who died on Monday April 6 at Halifax Health Medical Center will be held at 2:00pm at Coronado Community United Methodist Church 201 Peninsula Ave. New Smyrna Beach. Donald L. Sharp was born in Columbus Indiana and moved to Port Orange in 1994. He enjoyed all kinds of sports but was an avid fan of the Indiana Hoosiers basketball team. After having moved to the Daytona Beach area he became very interested in NASCAR and enjoyed watching his favorite driver take the win. Don proudly served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was a true patriot enjoying "telling war stories" any time he could. He was a member of Coronado Community United Methodist Church in New Smyrna Beach where he served as Head Usher of the 9:45am Worship Service and as the Assistant Choir Supporter of the Chancel Choir. He is survived by his wife of 60 years Louetta Sharp; three daughters Katherine Frazer and husband Steven of Columbus Indiana: Jerri Sills of Port Orange Florida and Donna Pearcy and husband Jeff of Hernando Florida. The Sharps have five grandchildren Angela Beech and husband Chris of New Albany Indiana; Christina Sills of Durant Oklahoma; Eric Sills of Port Orange Florida; Amanda Pearcy of Tallahassee Florida; Austin Pearcy of Hernando Florida; and one great-grandson Steven Von Scott Bear of Columbus Indiana.
