Donald Mitchell Schmidt 8/31/27 – 4/14/24

Donald Mitchell Schmidt passed from this life on April 14, 2024 and is "absent from the body but present with the Lord." He was born on August 31, 1927 and raised in Atlantic City, NJ which instilled in him a life-long love for the ocean. He graduated from Atlantic City High School in 1945 and Ursinus College in 1951. A member of the Greatest Generation, Don was a World War II veteran. He worked in various jobs at Michigan Bell Telephone Company, retiring as a district manager after 34 years of service. He loved to travel and visited a number of countries on five different continents. Don spent his last years in Ponce Inlet Florida where he was able to enjoy walks on the beach, one of his favorite pastimes. He is survived by his wife of sixty-nine years, Ruth Schmidt, his children Willow Schlachter, Cindy Newland, Laura Hewson, and Steven Schmidt, and eleven grandchildren.
