Donald P. Roberge 74 loving husband of 47 years father and long-time resident of the Volusia County area passed away on March 14 2010 . He was born in Leominster MA on February 8 1936 and at the age of 18 he proudly served our country in the US Navy. He later pursued a career by obtaining his Master's Degree in Pharmaceuticals and enjoyed 35 years as a pharmacist with Eckerd Drugs before retiring. Two years he went back to work part-time as a cashier at Florida Healthcare Pharmacy with co-workers he regarded as family. Don was a respected member and Deacon of Blake Memorial Baptist Church in Lake Helen where he was involved in the choir Wednesday morning men's prayer group hospital visitations as well many other committees in the church. In his spare time he enjoyed spending time on one of his three tractors mowing either at home or at his church in Lake Helen fishing with his dear friend Bud telling a good story or working on his computer however his greatest passion was his family. He will be remembered most for his kind loving nurturing nature and for always putting the needs of his family first. He will be dearly missed by all who had the opportunity to know him. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife Elsie; daughter Debbie Fieser and her husband Gerald DeLand; sons John Roberge and his wife Carrie of Live Oak FL Brad Roberge and his wife Madoka of Norfolk VA; brother Barry Roberge of St. Augustine; grandchildren Amber Durham Whitney Trenton River Raini and Shaun; great-grandson Camren and many dear friends. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Cardiac Unit at Florida Hospital in Ormond for the wonderful care they gave Don. A memorial service will be held on Sunday March 21st at 3:00 at Blake Memorial Baptist Church 134 N. Euclid Avenue Lake Helen FL 32744. Donations may be made in his name to Special Olympics.
