Donald P. Quartier Sr passed on to his eternal life on Wednesday October 13 2010 at the Hospice Care Center in Port Orange after a short battle with lung cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family. He was born to Harry and Dorothy Quartier on May 25 1929 in Syracuse New York. Visitation for Mr. Quartier will take place Sunday from 4-7 pm at Lohman Funeral Home Daytona Chapel. 1423 Bellevue Ave Daytona Beach FL. Service will be Monday at Church of the Epiphany 201 Lafayette St. Port Orange FL at 11am. Donald proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He transferred with General Electric to South Daytona in 1963 where he worked until 1972. In 1972 he obtained a job with the Daytona Beach News-Journal where he worked until his retirement in 1991. He was a devoted family man who enjoyed golfing fishing spending time and sharing memories with family and friends. He was best known by his tremendous sense of humor and quick wit that kept every situation light hearted. He has been a member of the Epiphany Catholic Church of Port Orange since 1963. He was also a member of the American Legion post 270 where he served as past Chef De-Gare of the 40/8; Fraternal Order of the Eagles and the Elks of Port Orange. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years Marylou; son Donald P. Quartier Jr.; granddaughter Kailynne Quartier; two sons-in-law George Jenkins Sr. and Scott Newby; and daughter in law Cheryl Quartier. He is survived by his loving wife of 5 years Virginia Quartier; three sons David (Linda) Quartier Douglas (Tammy) Quartier and Daniel Quartier; two daughters Deborah Jenkins and Deanna Newby; stepson Steven Newby; stepdaughter Judith Bailey; 23 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
