PETERS DONALD
In loving memory of our husband father & grandfather who passed away on the 9th day of August 2007. Don was born October 6 1930 in Chicago Illinois to Helen & Louis Peters. He attended Glenwood School for Boys for 8 years and graduated from Bloom Township High School in Chicago Heights IL in 1948. Don enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and honorably served his country in the Korean War from 1948-1952. He was wounded in active duty with the 1st Marine Division October 1950 and received the Purple Heart Medal.

Upon discharge Don completed a 4-year Electrical Preceptorship with the US Dept. Of Labor and gained his Stationary Engineer's License.

Don relocated to Palm Coast FL in 1985 from LaPlace Louisiana and continued his 30 year career in Facilities/Maintenance Engineering before retiring in 1992.

Don was a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge and a member of the Flagler County Detachment of the Marine Corps League.

Don knew no strangers and is remembered most fondly for his great sense of humor and out look on life. Don's greatest passion was his tremendous love of his family. He had a passion for sports whether it was playing football in the USMC boxing professionally or competing as a 2nd degree Black Belt in Judo. He was always his children's and grandchildren's biggest fan.

He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 33 ½ years Joyce; his "Favorite Sister-in-Law" Sandra Ball Willowbrook IL; brothers Raymond Bleth Chicago IL and Ronald Peters (twin brother) Phoenix AZ; daughters Helen Riggs (Tom) North Canton OH and Barbara Pittenger (Ed) Palatine IL; sons Christopher Peters (Valerie) Gainesville FL and Michael Peters Palm Coast FL; grandchildren Barry Hayes and Adam Hayes Palatine IL; Megan Smart Jaryd Smart Madison Peters & Jackson Peters Gainesville FL.

Visitation will held Monday 6-8 pm at the Lohman Funeral Home Palm Coast and a Chapel Service on Tuesday 11am with the Rev Denny Heiberg of Grace United Methodist Church officiating. There will be a burial in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
