IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Donald James
Kane
August 21, 1931 – October 22, 2025
Donald James Kane, 94, passed away at his home in Palm Coast, Florida, on Wednesday, October 22, 2025. Don was born in Wichita Falls, Texas on August 21, 1931. The youngest of three sons, Don was raised in Ponca City, Oklahoma, where he graduated a triple letterman in football, basketball, and baseball. After graduation from Ponca City High in 1950, Don enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served during the Korean War as a paratrooper in the 11th Airborne. After his three years of service to his country, he attended college at Wichita University and then Northern Oklahoma College, where he first met his future wife, Patricia. He then worked as a surveyor in the Western United States and South America. In 1959, Don moved to Los Angeles, California where he had a career in network TV as a cameraman at ABC. While in California, he also owned a Bar on Venice Beach. He relocated to Orlando, Florida, in 1969 to be near family and opened "El Taco Don", where he earned his nickname "Taco". In 1971, Don reconnected with his college sweetheart Patricia. They married and overnight Don had an instant family--a wife, three kids and a dog. Thus, Don embarked on his biggest adventure as a loving father, husband, and grandfather. After living in Orlando and Miami, Don and Pat retired to Palm Coast, Florida, where they made many new friends. Playing golf, making stained glass, and raising orchids were Don's favorite passions. One of his joys was traveling with his brother, Robert, volunteering to build homes, schools and community projects with Global Volunteers and Habitat for Humanity. Don was preceded in death by his loving wife of 52 years, Patricia; his parents, Raymond, Sr. and Margaret Kane; his brothers Raymond, Jr. (Alberta) Kane and Robert (Jane) Kane. He is survived by his children, Joe Jameson (Marie) of Claremore, Oklahoma, Sally (Greg) Marks of Leesburg, Florida, and Sherrill Gall of Palm Coast, Florida; five grandchildren, Shaun (Sara) Jameson, Lindsay Jameson, Whitney (Will) Chandler, Jessica (Justin) Marks, and Robert Marks; eight great-grandchildren, Grant Jameson, Lelia Ewers, Evan Jameson, Issac Ewers, Taylor Ewers, Willa Chandler, Reed Jameson and Wyndolyn Chandler. A special thank you to our great family friend Aldina Peneda for all her help and loving care.
