Donald C. Basford 71 was welcomed through the gates of heaven on January 28 2011. Family will receive friends on Thursday February 3th between 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at the First Baptist Church of Daytona Beach 118 N. Palmetto Ave. with a memorial service at 12:00 noon. Born March 23 1939 in Welaka FL to Alex and Marie (Owen) Basford. He relocated to Volusia County in 1970 from Welaka. Donald was a retired wielder a member of the First Baptist Church of Daytona Beach a member of the Greyhound Lodge Local 759 I.A.M. Labor union and was a very loving husband father and grandfather. He loved the outdoors hunting and fishing on the St. Johns River. He also loved cooking for his family gardening being a beekeeper and driving the Sunday school bus for over thirty years. He was predeceased by his parents and by his brother Lonnie Basford. Survivors include his loving wife of 38 years Alpha J. Basford Ormond Beach FL son Jim (April) Jollie New Smyrna Beach FL daughters Sherry (Mark) Blalock Daytona Beach FL. Sharon (Chuck) Morton S. Carolina Allison (Christopher) Custead Holly Hill FL brother Bobby (Shirley) Basford Welaka FL sisters Delores Lightner Akron OH Amy Lou (Herman) Davif Interlarken FL and Nellie Mae Crawford Crescent City Fl as well as eleven grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.
