Funeral service for Father Donald F. Ball age 82 of Ponce Inlet will be held Saturday September 24 at 11:00 am at St. Mary?s Episcopal Church 216 Orange Ave. His family will receive friends in the chapel of Baggett & Summers Funeral Home on Friday evening from 6:00 till 8:00 pm. Father Don passed away Saturday afternoon at the Hospice Care Center in Port Orange. Born in Paterson NJ he moved to this area 4 years ago. Father Don graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Long Island University and received his masters degree in Divinity from the church school of Divinity of the Pacific in Berkley California. Fr. Don was a combat correspondent and retired as a MSgt. in the Marine Corps serving in both WW II and Korea. He then was a chaplain for the New York State prison system retiring after 20 years. Just 2 months ago Fr. Don celebrated the 40th anniversary of his ordination as an Episcopal priest. He had spent the last 4 years at St. Mary?s Episcopal Church here in Daytona Beach.
Survivors include his wife of 9 years Aline his son Donald A. Ball Sandra of Kill Devil Hills NC his daughter Judith Bruce Charles of Richmond Va. his brother Frank E. Ball of Chicago and his sister Ruth Eberhard of Smithville NJ. Also surviving are Fr. Don?s 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Please Omit Flowers.
