Don Starr Lieb was born December 19, 1933 in Geneva, Ohio. He passed away on Sunday, August 2, 2015 at Brookdale Ormond Beach West due to the advanced stag of his Alzheimer's. He was the oldest son of Millicent Lieb and Donald Starr Lieb. He grew up in Huron, Ohio where he went to grade school and graduated from Huron High School in 1952. Don was a proud, passionate Buckeye. He attended the Ohio State University following high school. Don interrupted his college education to serve in the US Army from 1954 to 1956. He then returned to the Columbus campus as an accounting major, graduating in 1959. While attending OSU, he met and married his wife, (Eula) Jean Keener. Don and his wife, Jeanie were married in 1958.
Don earned his certification as an accountant in 1969. He practiced as a CPA in Columbus, Cleveland, and Cincinnati, Ohio as well as Newport Beach, California. Don finished his career at the Ohio State University Hospital, retiring as controller of the hospital. Retirement didn't stop Don from using his accounting skills. He was the long time treasurer of the Paw-Paw Chapter of the Native Plant Society and the Sierra Club, both the state and local chapters, as well as The Halifax Genealogical Society.
Don was an avid reader and sports fan, especially for his beloved Ohio State Buckeyes and his grandson's Mercer Bears. He loved to walk and could always be found at Gold's Gym. Don is survived by his wife of 57 years, (Eula) Jean Keener Lieb and his oldest, David Morgan Lieb, daughters-in-law, Ann Holum Lieb of Ormond Beach, and Lisa Gordman Lieb Marcus of Omaha, Nebraska, and grandchildren, Nadia and Jagger Lieb of Ormond Beach and Sam Lieb of Omaha, Nebraska, his brother, Dennis (Pat) Lieb of Columbus, Ohio and sister, Diane (Roy) Wilson of Norfolk, Virginia, Bob and Kay, Jim and Diane and J. Randolph Keener. He lost his youngest son, Douglas Ashley Lieb to cancer in 2003.
