Dolores Marie Smith (Kiddo), daughter of Norman and Catherine Smith, was born in St. Louis, MO on October 18,1930. Her childhood years were spent in St. Louis and she was a member of the graduating class of Eugene Coyle High School in 1948. She attended college classes following graduation. She moved with her parents and siblings: Jeanne, Norma, John, and George to Daytona Beach, Florida in the early 1950's. Dolores lived in the Daytona area until she relocated to the Tampa area in 2019. At the age of 91, she entered Heaven on April 11, 2022.

Dolores was employed by the Associated Coca-Cola Company and the Root Company as an administrative assistant for many years. During that time, she also taught typing to collegiate students and enjoyed helping them improve their skill level.

Dolores was an active member of the Basilica of St. Paul for most of her life and lived her Catholic faith daily. She attended early weekday masses before starting her workday as well as weekend masses. She continued to attend daily mass faithfully through her retirement years. Dolores displayed a true servant's heart and was active in numerous charities and ministries at St. Paul's. Among others, she represented Windows Ministry for the Poor, St. Theresa Circle / Respect Life and the St. Vincent de Paul Society. She served on the Board of Catholic Charities, and was instrumental in Halifax Urban Ministries and Family Renew. She assisted others as a part of the Prison Ministry. She delivered Holy Communion to the sick. She was responsible for the Community Bread Run and for the organization of the Annual Ice Cream Socials for the church. Her time was spent unselfishly helping to meet the needs of others in the church and community. Dolores sang in the St. Paul's Choir and was honored to have traveled with the choir to sing at the Vatican in Rome. She valued fellowship and spending time with family and friends. She also enjoyed arts and crafts, traveling, baking, and photography. Her commitment to her faith was a blessing and an inspiration to all who knew and loved her and the beauty of that faith radiated to those around her. She exemplified the love of Christ.

Dolores is preceded in death by her parents, Norman and Catherine Smith as well as her brothers and sisters: Jeanne, Norma, John, and George. She is survived by her loving family including Diane Charcas, Jessica Fischer, Christine Charcas, Hara Torres, Richard Charcas, Robert Healy, Kim and Lee Russell, Kerry and Brian Martens, Mia Catherine Martens, Paige and John Pace, Leigh Anne Russell, Cynthia Smith, Jonathan Tong, Catherine Richie, Rebecca Smith, Christopher and Elaine Smith, Zachary and Jonathan Moore, Karen Hargreaves, Oliver and Carter Hargreaves, Michael and Elizabeth Smith, Clayton and Kaylee Smith, Courtney Smith, Linda Smith Morgan, Mark Smith and Trevor, Ian, Amber, and Andrew Smith. She is also survived by dear friends with whom she has shared a lifetime of connection and camaraderie.

The Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 am on Tuesday, April 19th at the Basilica of St. Paul, 317 Mullally St., Daytona Beach, FL 32114. A noon Burial will follow at Daytona Memorial Park North, 1428 Bellevue Ave, Daytona Beach, FL 32114. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Windows Ministry for the Poor – Basilica of St. Paul, St. Theresa Circle/Respect Life – Basilica of St. Paul, and/or Catholic Charities.

Dolores will be cherished in the hearts of all whose lives have been touched by her shining light. She leaves a beautiful legacy of a life well lived in dedication to the fullness of the Fruits of the Holy Spirit.
