Digna Zelma Barrios, 81, of Daytona Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Sunday February 12, 2017 in Daytona Beach, Florida. She was born on September 22, 1935 in Villeta, Paraguay. She loved caring for her family and was extremely devoted to the Blessed Mother. She was associated with the Legion of Mary and Damas Vicentinas. She spoke more than one language including Guarani. She also enjoyed dancing, traveling and loved Paraguayan music. Most of all she will be remembered for her wicked sense of humor and her amazing facial expressions. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00am on Friday February 17, 2017 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 201 University Boulevard, Daytona Beach, FL 32118. A Visitation will also be held on Friday February 17, 2017 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church from 9:00am til 10:15am. There will be a reception at the church immediately following the Funeral Mass. The Burial will be held after the reception at Daytona Memorial Park, 1425 Bellevue Avenue, Daytona Beach, FL 32114. Survivors include her six children, Gustavo Barrios of Lima Peru, Sonia (Andrew) Johnson of Leicester, England, Gonzalo (Linda) Barrios of Daytona Beach, FL, Daniel (Ethel) Barrios of Plantation, FL, Rafael Barrios of Lima, Peru and Norah (Stan) Demmon of Salt Lake City, Utah; a brother, Luis Pineiro; ten grandchildren, Madeleine,, George, Olivia, Mia (Justin), Ami, Mara, Carolina, Alexa, Lucas, Enzo, and Luca; and one great-granddaughter, Lucia. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Adolfo, on May 23, 2011 and by her daughter, Zelma on January 10, 2014. Memorial donations may be made in her memory to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude's Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to the Halifax Humane Society, 2364 LPGA Boulevard, Daytona Beach, FL 32124.
