Diana Olivier Morgan
1930- 2020

Diana Olivia Morgan, affectionally known as Dina, was born on March 28, 1930 to Augustine Armanda Lambert on the beautiful Island of St Martin. She was born in the French Quarter but grew up in Colombier village where she called home. After completing her formal education, she then left St Martin to work in Aruba as a maid but was later became to head chef for the president of the Largo Oil Refinery in San Nicholas.

While in Aruba mom met Manfred L. Morgan who had traveled from Union Island in St. Vincent, to Trinidad, then down to Aruba. He immediately began courting her and captured the heart of this daughter of St Maarten's soil. Manfred turn out to be the love of her life. They soon got married & embarked on beginning their family. From this union, their seven children, consisted of two girls Antoinette & Leana & five boys, Toussaint, Jim, Charville, Omowale & Dean were born. Mom traveled to Trinidad with her husband & raised their children there for twelve wonderful years. They then migrated to the Sates to continue raising their family.

Those who knew mom, knows she never hesitated to put anyone in check. Being disciplined by dad hands was painful. But mom's beatings cut much deeper. Beatings by mom weren't just out of anger. They left you with a lingering feeling of guilt, and with pain that penetrated much deeper than any physical scar. But by looks of her children now, I guess the effectiveness of mom's hands can't be argued with. They proved to be good for more than just first class cooking.

Mom & dad left NY for Palm Coast Florida in 1999. For them, Florida offered the chance to live in warmer temperature & more serene surroundings. With children already grown, they intended to enjoy retirement doing things they always wanted. In Brooklyn, Mom was leader of class # 6 & a member of the Women's Home Missionary Group at Ebenezer Wesleyan Methodist Church. Upon relocating to Palm Coast, mom immediately joined the United Methodist Church.

Diana Olivia Morgan is survived by her seven children. They are Antoinette, Toussaint, Jim, Charville, Omowale Leana and Dean, two sons-in-law, five daughters in law, 15 grandchildren & 8 great grandchildren. Her many Cousins such as the Lakes, Arrindell's, Jermins, Pattersons, Benjamins, Klocks, Gumbs, Moss, Peters, Freeman, Millers, Glasgow, Lamberts, Alleynes & Illidge. Her Godchildren Yani Denis, David Hinds & Kydron Connell & close friends like Mildred & family, Alverine, Mrs. Gordon, Anzanetta, Albertine, the Richardson, the Hershberger, Mr. Mitchell Dr. Clark; Dina in Curaçao; Sis Anderson, Pearl, Lindiwe just to name a few.

Diana was so much more than just a wife, a mother grandmother, great grandmother, godmother, sister, aunt, friend, neighbor, confidant, prayer warrior, professional cook, certified home attendant & just a beautiful human being. Diana was the ultimate nurturer. Africans believe, "it takes a village to raise a child" but for Diana's family, her children's friends, neighbors & acquaintances, Diana was the embodiment of the spirit of the African village. The lifelong relationships she forged with her children's friend and neighbors is testimony to who she is. She was the families anchor who taught pride in self, respect for community, love for humanity, a strong belief in god and respect forces greater than us, a thirst for knowledge. She believed in extending a hand for those in need, standing on principal and fighting for what was right. She was not just protective of her children but of all those she considered part of her village.

It is often said that a person's worth can be measured by the lasting impressions left on those whose path they crossed. Diana will be remembered as a warm hearted, welcoming soul, whose gifted hands turned everything she touched into solid gold. Her gentleness and pride were widely admired & will always be remembered by the many souls she inspired. But the truest value of her worth, remains evident in the seven children to whom she gave birth. In them she worked hard to instill a sense of unity, teach personal responsibility infused with a sense of maturity & humility. This she demanded from all & toiled endlessly to impart to her family. Once her values are lived and passed on from her children to their children's children, they will multiply creating more golden nuggets that in time will be the true reflection of Diana's lasting legacy.
