Dewitt C. Silvers III ""Dick"" 80 of Port Orange fell asleep in Jesus on June 25 2012.
A ""Celebration of Life"" will be held at a later date to be announced.
Dick was born on June 29 1931 in New Smyrna Beach to the late Erma (Hayes) and Dewitt C. Silvers Jr. He was a member of the 1949 graduating class of New Smyrna Beach High School. Following graduation Dick enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He was in the military for eight years served in the Korean conflict and received an honorable discharge.
He worked for General Electric in R&D then for Boeing Aerospace as an electronics engineer specializing in the testing of military aircraft such as the B-1. After 30 years he retired from Boeing as a manager. He was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church and the Marine Corps Association.
Dick was a devoted and loved husband father grandfather great-grandfather brother uncle and friend. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter Elizabeth Joy. Survivors include his beloved wife of 60 years Margaret (Wise); son Steven (Charity) brother Noel (Dottie); sister Barbara Bochiardy; grandchildren Nathan (Sheryl) Sarah (Sam) Moore Esther (Adam) Manning Hannah and Ruth Ann; great-granddaughter Cailyn Moore; and many very special nieces and nephews.
