Visitation services for Dempsey ?Hap? Harrison age 53 of Ormond Beach who passed away after a lengthy battle with cancer on Wednesday October 29 2003 will be held on Sunday November 2 2003 from 2 pm to 4 pm and from 6 pm to 8 pm and on Tuesday November 4 2003 from 5 pm to 6 pm at Ormond Funeral Home. Funeral services will take place Tuesday November 4 2003 at 6 pm at Ormond Funeral Home.
Hap was in the Navy from 1970 to 1998. He was in the enlisted ranks until his commission in 1981. He retired as a Lieutenant Commander in Pensacola Florida in 1998. He became an industrial arts teacher and freshman football coach at Washington High School.
After moving to Ormond Beach in 2001 he then became a technology teacher at Holly Hill Middle School. Hap spent countless after-school and weekend hours at his schools so that his students would have fun learning and be successful. He was active with the Boy Scouts of America Troop 415 in Pensacola with his three sons. His favorite pastime was coaching his children?s soccer softball and baseball teams in San Diego and Pensacola. Hap?s most recent hobby was walking on the beach in the evening with Dawn and fishing in the surf with family and friends.
Hap is survived by his loving wife of 29 years Dawn Harrison of Ormond Beach FL; sons Beau Harrison Robert Harrison and William Harrison all of Ormond Beach FL; his daughter and son-in-law Sabrina and Stanley Manhart of Ormond by the Sea FL; stepsisters Kittie Ford of Amarillo TX; Lissa Cooke of Dallas and stepmother Edith Harrison of Vernon TX. He was predeceased by his father Robert Harrison and his mother Dorothy Hurley.
