Lieutenant Debra "Debbie" Adamy age 52 of Daytona Beach formerly of Jacksonville Florida passed away on Thursday August 5 2010. A 3:00 gathering followed by a 6:00 PM memorial service in her honor will be held Monday August 9 2010; at the Daytona Chapel of the Lohman Funeral Home. Interment will be at a later date at Daytona Memorial Park.
Debbie was born the oldest of 10 children in Providence Road Island to Harold and Carol Groat. She was a strong woman of faith who was a great cook devoted fan of the Food Network Channel avid reader especially suspense novels and loved traveling to coastal destinations Antigua being her favorite. More than anything in the world she loved being a mother. Debbie dedicated herself to the service of others as a 20 year + veteran of the Daytona Beach Police Department. Lt. Adamy rose through the ranks and was promoted to Lieutenant in 2001. She served in the Patrol Division the Criminal Investigation Division Personnel Training and Narcotics. She was also the supervisor of the Office of Professional Standards prior to being the shift commander in the Patrol Division. During Lieutenant Adamy's tenure she received numerous commendations from cases she diligently worked. These included but were not limited to Homicide Investigations as well as many Sexual Battery Investigations.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving son; William "Bill" Adamy Jr. her parents; Harold and Carol Groat 5 brothers; Daniel David (Maritza) Daryl Derek and Robert Groat 4 sisters; Dorothy (Stafford) Davis Diane Christina and Carol Groat special cousin Cheryl Orefice and many many loving nieces nephews family and friends.
