Deborah "Debbie" Wampler

Deborah "Debbie" Wampler hiked home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 10, 2025, at her home in Harrisonburg, VA, surrounded by family and friends. Debbie was born to Rose and Charlie Vassallo on Tuesday, August 25, 1959 in Alexandria, Virginia. She led a life full of love and helping others. She obtained her masters in psychology and went on to counsel hundreds of people, a profession she excelled at. She enjoyed hiking, gardening, spending time with her family and friends, looking for seashells along the shoreline, spending time with her beloved grandchildren, and cheering on her Commanders every single game. Debbie had been fighting breast cancer for over 30 years- taking on all the hard times with a smile on her face and a cold Coca-Cola in her hand. Her ability to remain positive in spite of these hardships is admirable and the definition of strength. Her loved ones could not be more proud. Debbie is preceded in death by her parents, Rosalyn Vanyo and Charles Vassallo, her grandmother Neva Waggy, and her basset hounds Fred and Champ. She is survived by her children; Lee Wampler (Peyton), Stephanie Dietrich (Brett), and Katie Saravia (Sal), her grandkids Charlie and Clara, her siblings; Donna Polcin, Dan Vassallo, Mike Vanyo, Su Vanyo, and numerous lifelong friends. The family would like to extend immense gratitude to all the doctors, nurses, and other medical staff that have helped her throughout these years. A special thank you to Dr. Pritchard, Dr. Robinson, Dr. Witman, and Dr. Cauchi. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Little Pink Houses of Hope. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2025 at 3 p.m. at Gaie Lea venue in Staunton, VA. To honor Debbie and her positive and bright spirit, the family requests a colorful and casual dress code.
