David Eugene Wingard, age 80, was peacefully called home to the Lord at his residence in Ormond Beach on Monday, December 27, 2021
Born on September 25, 1941 in Kittanning, PA he was a son of the late Nelson and Lucille Wingard. In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his brother, John. He attended West Kittanning High and later graduated from Grace College with a Bachelor Degree.
David served honorably in the US Army from 1965-1973. His tours included two years in Vietnam where he attained the rank of Captain as a helicopter pilot. He later served in the Army reserve and was promoted to Major.
He married the love of his life Deborah Ann Uphouse in December of 1968.
In 1974 he joined the Florida Highway Patrol, where he served in Volusia County as a traffic homicide investigator. David retired in 2004 after 30 years of service to his community and citizens.
Dave enjoyed all types of outdoor activities, especially throwing horseshoes, a passion he found in retirement. He also took every opportunity to be with his grandchildren at their sporting events. David was extremely devoted to his family and his Church and his passion for missions was evident.
David's memory will be cherished by loving wife Deb of 53 years; son, Seth and his wife Tina; and two grandkids, Logan Adam and Cora Grace. He will also be sorely missed by his brothers Ed and his wife Norma and Larry and his wife Karen; and sister-in-law, Bonnie Wingard.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00am Saturday, January 8, 2022 at Tomoka Christian Church, 1450 Hand Ave., Ormond Beach, FL.
A private family inurnment will take place at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in David's memory to Tomoka Christian Church Missions department.
