David Wilson 81 of Astor passed away on March 27 2013. A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday April 01 2013 at 7:00pm at Lohman Funeral Home Deland. Family will receive friends from 6:00pm to 7:00pm also on Monday. David was born in Bournmouth England on August 05 1931. He was elected to Five Terms as President of USWA Local 2609 and also founded the program for steelworker retirees. In 1976 he founded the first Womens Advisory Committee in basic steel. In 1982 he founded the District 8 scolarship program and in 1986 started the first Emergency Assistance Program for steelworkers. He went on to be elected as District Director of the Steelworkers for 4 terms. David was the recipient of many awards and citations for his 40 years of services and dedication to the labor movement. After retiring to Florida he served one term as President of the Northwest Volusia Democratic Club. David is survived by his wife Dolores; children and step-children Bruce Wilson Gregory Wilson Pamela Reiner Linda Trzos David Wilson Jr. Sharon Maxwell Robert Amos and Daniel Amos; fourteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
