David Charles Sanft went home to be with our Lord on August 3, 2021 at Halifax Hospital in Daytona Beach. He was born to Harry and Gladys (Magistad) Sanft on December 24, 1944 in St. Paul, Minnesota.
He graduated from Monroe High School and Augsburg College in Minnesota. Dave retired after a long career at West Publishing in 2000 and enjoyed the past 20 years playing golf until illness confined him to a more sedentary life the last couple of years.
Dave is survived by his wife of 37 years, Sue; children Dave, Jr. (Shannon), Ken (Arlene), Derek (Amanda), and Erin (Keith) Martin; grandchildren Cassondra, Allison, Luke, Liliana, Jo, Nathon; and great-granddaughter, Reese; as well as siblings Shirley Schorey, Jerry (Marilyn) Sanft, and Judy (Carl) Weber; siblings-in-law Steve (Barb) Camp and Cindy (Bill) Swisher; numerous extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Gladys; his in-laws, Ray and Gladys Camp; his brother Bob; sister-in-law Audrey; brothers-in-law, Vic Schorey and Herb Camp; and grandson, David Medina Sanft.
Dave will be remembered for his quick wit and jokes for every occasion. He loved his family, his church, golf, tennis, reading, and his dogs Jezy and Mabel.
Dave's going home celebration will be held at Our Savior's Ev. Lutheran Church, 1715 Taylor Rd., Port Orange, FL 32128 on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at 1:00 p.m.
There will also be a memorial service in Minnesota at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, family and friends may make memorial contributions to an organization of their choice.
