Obituary

David William Reynolds , 61, passed away October 27 at his home in Daytona Beach, Florida. He was born in Akron, OH in 1960 and graduated from Mogadore High School, where he was a standout athlete and student. He was an extremely proud veteran of the United States Army, where he was a Sergeant serving as a team squad leader in the 8th Infantry Regiment, Mainz, Germany. After his honorable discharge, David attended Kent State University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in English with a minor in German, and later Stetson University, earning a Master in English Education. David was a teacher in the Volusia County School system for 24 years. He was an English Teacher and Wrestling Coach at Pine Ridge High School and most recently, taught English and Reading at New Smyrna Middle School. His positive influence was immeasurable. David was a beloved husband, son, brother, uncle, friend, mentor, and educator, His life and work will be cherished and missed. David was preceded in death by his mother Janis Reynolds, and is survived by his father Walter Reynolds, his beloved wife Barbara, sister-in-law Betty Barnhart, brother-in-law Tony Henderson, sisters Dianna (Warren) Pickel and Denise Raddish, brother Don (Kylie) Reynolds, nephews Timothy Reynolds, William Pickel, and Christopher Reynolds, his dearest friend Danny (Kathy) Tasseff, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins, whom he loved dearly. He will also be, met at the gates of heaven, by the wagging tails of Max, Duncan, and Erin. His funeral service will be held at 1:00pm Saturday November 6, 2021, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 1014 N. Halifax Ave. (corner of Halifax Ave and University Blvd.), Daytona Beach, FL 32118. Interment will immediately following at Daytona Memorial Park (Old Cedar Hill North on the Side of Bellevue Ave). The family requests, that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to The Humane Society or Veterans Association of your choice. Lohman Funeral Home in Daytona Beach is in charge.
