Memorial service for David Dane Ray 48 Port Orange who died peacefully Fri. Oct. 5 2007 at Halifax Medical Center with his wife by his side will be 9 a.m. Sat. Oct. 13 at the Basilica of St. Paul Daytona Beach with the Rev. Timothy Daly as celebrant. Mr. Ray was born May 20 1959 in Kendelville Ind. to Robert and Jewel Ray. A Navy veteran David worked for Daytona Fire and Safety. He had many skills and talents. He loved surfing kayaking photography writing music cooking and all God's animals. He loved anything outdoors but most of all he loved his family. His greatest accomplishment was being a devoted husband to Angie and father to Marcus and Victor. His brother taught him how to light a firecracker and pitch a tent. Angie Marcus and Victor taught him how to love. We will all miss him dearly. We will never forget his laugh his stories his music and jokes. His legacy will continue through his children and his love which will always remain with them. From Marcus: ""He was the best dad I ever had. No matter where he is he is still my dad. I'm the youngest so he would take me and my cousin surfing at the sign that says O'Neill. So I wish he was here to pick me up at school. I would do my homework first and then he would cook jambalaya and the best salad. But now that has changed but when I grow up and get a car I will visit where grandpa's ashes are; since soon it will be called my dad and grandpa's ashes ""spot."" If my dad was looking at me I would tell him that he was the coolest dad and the best dad in the world."" David was predeceased by his father Robert Ray. He is survived by his wife Angie Ray; two sons Victor and Marcus; mother Jewel Ray; brother Marty (Danny) Ray St. George's Island; sister Cindy (Frank) Lasala N.J.; godmother Dorothy Buschman Orange City; mother-in-law Malena Sugia Port Orange; sister and brother-in-law Ady and John Baucom Port Orange; brother-in-law Samuel Arquieta Acapulco Mexico; and cousins aunts uncles nieces nephews and frinds.
