David P. Rakestraw of Daytona Beach passed away Monday November 28 at the age of 75. David was born in Burlington North Carolina and graduated Pittsboro High School in 1954. He enlisted in the Air Force and served in the Korean War as an aircraft controller. He attended the University of Florida in Miami. While working at the New York Stock Exchange he met his wife Clare Ames-Lewis.

He worked for over 36 years in the stock brokerage industry; with 25 of those years at the National Association of Security Dealers in Atlanta GA. David was a member of the Sons of the Confederate Veterans' Sons of the American Revolution and the Heritage Preservation Trust.

He is survived by his wife Clare his daughters Catherine Smith of Cary NC and Elisabeth Paquin of Auburn GA and five grandchildren. He is also survived by his mother Catherine O. Vick.
