David Henry Alun Matthews age 81 of Debary passed away Sunday December 18 2011. Beloved husband of Yvonne Matthews loving father of: Jacquelyn (Ted) Allen Helen (Brian) Stone and Frances Matthews doting grandpa of; Stephanie (Chris) Nicholas; Bryce Lauren Dylan; Alex & Gillian. Brother of Eurwyn (Jen) Matthews family friend and former father-in-law to Bill Slade Jr. David was born in Pontarddulais Wales to Henry Lewis Hopkin and Mona Eileen Matthews. He proudly served in the Royal Air Force and was a graduate of The University of Wales and Kings College Cambridge with a Bachelor of Science using his talents as a Mining Engineer. He migrated to Canada in 1966 with his family and in 1976 he moved to SLC UT then to TX CO. back to UT before moving to Florida. David was a determined gentleman firm in his convictions whose passion in life was Chess Chess Chess reaching the title of Master. He enjoyed painting in oils and after his 1st stroke learned to paint with his left hand. He was often teased that his priorities were Chess Family and painting.
