David Andrew Zechnowitz a.k.a. ""Dave Z"" passed away September 16 2013 after a heroic battle with a long illness. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 AM Friday September 20 2013 at St Peters Catholic Church in Deland Florida. Visitation for David will be Held from the hours of 4pm to 8 pm Thursday September 19 2013 at Lohman Funeral Home Deland . Interment to follow service at Deland Memorial Gardens.
Born in New York City November 6 1951 to Ira and the late Mary Zechnowitz. David is survived by his wife Debra his daughters Jessie and Lillian Zechnowitz Berkeley CA step daughters Linda and Lisa Rivera DeLand and Anna Graham Houston TX. He is also survived by his brother Steven (Mara) Ormond Beach and sister Kim Ormond Beach and special friend Richard Barnes of Lake Helen and many niece nephews and other friends.
David graduated from Seabreeze High School in 1970 and the University of Central Florida where he earned his masters in public administration. He worked for the County of Volusia in the Zoning Department for 25 years.
His love of family and his passion for his work was a gift to all who knew him. We will miss his humor laughter practical jokes and his amazing blue eyes. If your path in life crossed with Dave Z you are one of the lucky ones.
