Obituary

David Clay was born on January 18, 1926, in Rock Camp, Ohio. He peacefully passed away at his home in Daytona Beach, Florida, on June 7, 2026, at the age of 100.

David was preceded in death by his father, Hershel Tally Clay, and his mother. As well as his niece, Anna Clay, 2 sisters and seven brothers.

He is survived by his loving wife, Pat (Scott) Clay, their children Tammy Enyart and David Panzner, grandchildren Joey Upchurch and Falon Enyart, and great-grandchildren Jaylynn Enyart and Waylynn Enyart, along with many nieces, nephews, and their families.

At the age of 18, he entered WWII and fought on the front lines in Bitche, France in 1944 and 1945 for the Fox Company, 398th Infantry, 100th Division, 7th Army. He shared many stories both funny and sad about his battle buddies that his family members will cherish forever, especially the story of finding his brothers in France after the war ended and realizing they all had lived. He never told this story without tears in his eyes.

David dedicated 31 years to a career at General Motors in Columbus, Ohio, concluding his professional journey as the OSHA representative for UAW Local 969. It was during this time that he met and fell in love with Pat, affectionately known as “Patty,” sharing over 50 years of happiness together.

David loved playing golf, achieving 4 holes-in-one before retiring from the game at age 97. He was also an avid bowler, proud of several 700 club awards and an impressive near-perfect game of 299, retiring from bowling at age 99. He loved traveling with his wife, Pat, and they enjoyed many cruises as well as many motorhome trips. He loved spending time with his family, especially his kids and grandkids. Dave and Pat have attended the Colony Community Church at Colonial Colony South where they have lived the last 28 years and made many lifelong friends.
